Hi I’m Madeline and welcome to my collection of stained glass designs!
I work in a state of flux, constantly trying new materials, techniques, and styles, hence the name. I’m focusing on combining stained glass and woodworking to create functional, aesthetic pieces ranging from fantasy to more modern styles.
I’m based in Franklin, TN and graduated from Vanderbilt University in 2023 with a major in Earth and Environmental Science. I use lead-free solder where I can and limit glass waste by keeping scraps to be tumbled into “sea glass.” Buying from small businesses is better for our planet and helps artists continue to share their creativity with others!

The Creation Process
There are many steps to making stained glass, not even including the wooden components.
First, I create a mood board, the final idea, and a sketch before refining it into a pattern. I print this onto self-adhesive vinyl, cut it out, and adhere it to my chosen glass.
From here, I score and break the pieces by hand or use a ring saw to cut out deep curves. I grind each side of each piece until everything fits together smoothly.
I then apply copper foil around each piece, crimping and burnishing the edges. This provides a surface to apply flux and the subsequent solder.
Using a soldering iron and a roll of solder, I create smooth joints that give the piece much of its structural integrity. Larger pieces require additional reinforcement, such as zinc came or steel rods.
Finally, after potentially adding a patine, I will polish the piece by hand and set it into its wooden components if there are any.
